WELCOME
DENJIROU is a country guesthouse, set in a peaceful farming village in
rural Japan.
The house was built by our ancestor, Mr Denjirou Ishii, towards the end
of the Edo period (about 150 year ago). Since then, the family head of
each generation has taken care of the property. We decided to convert the farm house to a ryokan (guesthouse) so that more people can experience its traditional character
and enjoy the surrounding nature.
DENJIROU is located in Daigo (Ibaraki Prefecture), about 150 km north of Tokyo. There are
many attractive tourist destinations nearby, including Fukuroda no Taki (Fukuroda Waterfall), considered one of the three most picturesque waterfalls in Japan, and onsen (public baths with hot springs).
Our goal is to provide a unique and relaxing experience, so we limit our
accommodation to a single group of up to 10 people each day.
We pay special attention to the food we serve. You will enjoy country-style Japanese dishes made from fresh,
locally-available products. Both Japanese and English style breakfasts
are available.
We also wish to help foreign visitors to explore rural Japan. It is relatively
easy to visit large cities such as Tokyo and Kyoto without speaking Japanese,
but it can be quite different in rural areas. As my husband and I have
lived outside Japan and can speak English, we would like to welcome visitors
from different countries, and are happy to help you with your Japanese
travel plans.
